Western Nile fever activity is increasing across Europe, with Greece reporting 21 confirmed cases. Reports indicate that the virus has been identified in Macedonia and other European nations, according to the “Grt Times.”
The Greek National Organization for Health (EODI) stated that 20 of the infected individuals in Greece exhibited severe symptoms. These complications include encephalitis, meningitis, and paralysis.
Nationally, 14 new cases have been recorded, and 13 patients are currently receiving hospital care. To date, there have been no reported fatalities linked to the nile fever outbreak. Geographically, the highest number of cases has been concentrated in the Attica region.
Other areas reporting infections include Spata-Artemida, Markopoulo, Var, Koropi, Lavrio, Nea Ionia, Athens, and Glyfada. Furthermore, the nile fever has been documented in Larissa and Palamas. Health authorities continue to monitor the spread of the virus across the region.
