Two active fires in the open areas of Volkovo and Brnjarci, Angel warns and on accidental fires

On the day of reporting, authorities registered more than five fires across the open spaces. According to Stojanče Angelov, the director of the Directorate for Protection and Salvation (DPS), none of the current incidents posed a serious threat, though officials anticipate that the fires will be brought under control shortly. Speaking in a field video interview, Angelov also reported on the previous day’s significant efforts, stating that the DPS successfully extinguished more than 25 fires in the open areas.

The most complex incident detailed occurred on the territory of the Municipality of Makedonski Brod, situated near Samokov. This particular fire required substantial intervention, involving numerous firefighters from Makedonski Brod and three specialized units from the Directorate for Protection and Salvation. Angelov noted that the fire was ultimately brought under control by a lightning strike.

These reports indicate ongoing vigilance regarding fire risks in the region. The coordination between local fire services and specialized state directorates remains critical for managing the spread of blazes in open environments. While the current number of active fires is manageable, the volume of incidents reported over the last 24 hours underscores the persistent threat posed by uncontrolled fires across the region.
