Macedonia Announces Launch of ‘VEZILKA’ as First Nation to Initiate Global Technological Shift
Macedonia will formally inaugurate a groundbreaking national initiative, VEZILKA, as the first country to spearhead a global technological revolution. The official launch is scheduled for tomorrow at 12:00 AM, with a presentation led by Christian Mitzkoski, European Ambassador, Hristijan Mikoski, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and leading academics. VEZILKA, the National Factory for Intelligent Processing of Intelligence, is a strategic project developed through collaboration between the Financial Operations Centre (FNC) and the University of St.
Cyril and Methodius, alongside the Ministry of Digital Transformation. The project is being supported by significant funding from the EuroHPC JU and Horizon Europe programs. The core purpose of VEZILKA is twofold.
Firstly, it aims to safeguard the Macedonian language in an increasingly digital landscape. Recognizing the potential displacement of larger languages by advanced AI models, VEZILKA will focus on creating specialized collections of Macedonian language data, thereby bolstering the nation’s digital sovereignty. Secondly, VEZILKA is intended to serve as an economic driver.
The factory’s operations will center on intelligent processing, contributing to technological advancement within Macedonia. The project’s success hinges on continued collaboration and investment, marking a significant step for the country’s technological future.
