The Macedonian army marks 34 years since its formation

The General Staff has announced increased activity within the army in both Skopje and Shtip to mark the 34th anniversary of the military force. The celebrations are scheduled to feature significant demonstrations of military capability across the two key locations. In Skopje, the focus will be on the artillery units at the “Ilinden” barracks.

The day’s events include a preliminary trial firing of one platoon, consisting of six artillery pieces, scheduled for 18:00. This will be followed by a major ceremonial firing at 19:00, where a unit from the artillery battalion will demonstrate firepower using ten platoons of six artillery pieces. The commemoration in Shtip will take place at the “Jane Sandanski” barracks.

This event will feature a display involving the 2nd Infantry Battalion (2. Pb) and several other units of the army. The anniversary celebrations underscore the ongoing role of the army within the Macedonian defense structure.

While the events are highly publicized, sources noted that high command representatives, city mayors from the operational zone of the 2. Pb, and other directors were not in attendance at the scheduled functions. The planned displays emphasize the continued readiness and operational capacity of the artillery corps as the nation marks this significant military milestone.
