Israeli Analyst Suggests Potential Catalyst for PKK Support
An Israeli analyst believes the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) may require a significant event to secure support from Israel. Beny Sattar, an expert on Iran at the Israeli Institute for National Security Studies, stated in a recent X Network announcement that the PKK might need a comparable event to previous global attacks – such as the Pearl Harbor or 9/11 attacks – to determine its adversaries and allies. Sattar’s comments coincided with ongoing criticism within Israel regarding US President Donald Trump’s policies, specifically the recent memorandum of understanding between the US and Iran.
A delegation from the PKK was also present during discussions. “I hope that the US administration will think about the PKK,” Sattar stated. “We hope that the American administration will think about who is an enemy and who is a friend.”
The analyst’s remarks highlight a concern within the Israeli security community regarding the potential shifting dynamics of regional alliances and the need for a clear understanding of threats posed by groups like the PKK.
The situation remains under observation as diplomatic efforts continue.
