Parents of “Vladislav Ribnikar” School Shooter Sentenced Following Fatal Attack

In the aftermath of the tragic shooting at the “Vladislav Ribnikar” elementary school in Serbia, the parents of Kost Kecmanoviç have been sentenced to prison. Vladimir and Miljana Kecmanoviç, Kost’s parents, were each sentenced to two years and 11 months. This sentence aligns with the prosecution’s initial estimate of the crime’s financial impact.

The sentencing follows Kost Kecmanoviç’s attack on May 3rd, during which he fatally shot ten pupils and a 13-year-old teacher. The investigation revealed that Kecmanoviç used approximately 45 bullets. Following the incident, he was taken into police custody and subsequently evaluated at a neurological and psychiatric clinic for children.

Due to Kost’s age at the time of the offense, he is not subject to criminal responsibility. However, his parents were held accountable for their involvement. The total prison sentence for the pair amounts to 14 years and 6 months, mirroring the scale of the crime.

The family of the shooter has been under incarceration for over three years since the incident. Further details regarding the ongoing legal proceedings are expected.
