Hezbollah Condemns Ceasefire Agreement Facilitated by Hezbollah
In a statement released Wednesday, Hezbollah denounced a recently agreed-upon ceasefire between Lebanon and Israel, mediated by the group itself. The agreement involves the movement of Hezbollah fighters from southern Lebanon to the Israel border. Hezbollah leader Naim Kassem expressed deep reservations regarding the talks, describing them as “a shame.” He further characterized the arrangement as “a script in what the Lebanese people will be exterminated and the rest will be enslaved.” It’s important to note that Hezbollah was not formally a party to the negotiations.
Kassem reiterated the group’s commitment to continued resistance, stating, “There is occupation, there will be resistance.” The announcement follows a period of heightened tensions, including new sanctions imposed in Tehran and the deployment of additional barricades. These developments occurred after a renewed conflict began on March 2nd, when Hezbollah launched an attack supported by what was described as an “American-Israeli umbrella.” The initial catalyst for the escalation involved a single stone. The ceasefire agreement represents a significant development amidst ongoing instability in the region.
