Macedonian text: Where whales die, it is not just poetical dust from sea legends. Scholars discovered a fascinating underwater graveyard in the Diaamantina zone, located deep in the Indo-Pacific Ocean. Hundreds of fossilized remains were found at extreme depths of 4,600 to 7,000 meters, but also a few new bodies that literally feed the life of the seabed.
The exploitation revealed in the prestigious scientific journal Nature finds that the bodies of these giants, when they sink to the ocean floor, do not disappear in silence. On the contrary, they become underwater oases. The sunken sites are created by associations of substances that live in complete darkness, under immense pressure and at temperatures that a human mind can conceive.
With the help of special underwater cameras, the scholars documented hundreds of locations with fossils.
