Minister Addresses Concerns Over Job Offerings at Minimum Wage

Skopje – Minister for Economy and Labor, Besar Dormishie, addressed concerns regarding a recent announcement of 9,000 free jobs offered at the legally established minimum wage. Speaking at a press conference alongside the director of the Employment Agency, Dormishie presented the Agency’s Operational Plan for 2026. Following reports on the Agency’s website detailing the proposed job postings, Dormishie clarified the situation.

He referenced statements made by the director of the Employment Agency and the Labor Inspectorate. “We do not have a plan and we do not have 9,000 free jobs with the minimum wage,” Dormishie stated. The Minister emphasized that no single company will be permitted to offer employment solely at the minimum wage level.

He indicated that controls and potential sanctions will be implemented until the necessity of the minimum wage can be genuinely verified. The Operational Plan outlines broader employment strategies, but the specific offering of 9,000 positions at the minimum wage remains a point of clarification. Dormishie’s comments underscore the government’s commitment to ensuring fair labor practices and upholding the established minimum wage standards.
