Macedonia Prioritizes Long-Term Institutional Development with New Strategy
Macedonia is focusing on establishing institutions capable of sustained, long-term work, particularly concerning the implementation of a new long-term visa system. This emphasis is detailed in the fifth part of the National Development Strategy 2024-2044. The strategy itself represents a crucial strategic document for the state, developed through extensive consultation with a wide range of stakeholders.
This includes experts, governmental institutions, local self-government bodies, business partners, and civil society organizations. The process aimed to create one comprehensive vision for the country’s future. According to Minister Mitzkoiski, the strategy addresses a longstanding challenge: “For years we have been forced to think in a short-term manner and solve problems from day to day.” He emphasized the opportunity to demonstrate the state’s capacity for considered planning and to decouple development from political cycles.
The document’s core objective is to foster institutions that operate with a long-term perspective, ensuring stability and sustainable growth. This one-part of the strategy is intended to reshape the approach to development within Macedonia.
