Analysis of the first six months of 2026 indicates a strong operational pace for Macedonia’s aviation sector. Data reveals that the two primary Macedonian airports recorded a total of 2,414,892 passengers between January and July. This figure represents an increase of 535,697 passengers compared to the corresponding period in the previous year.
Furthermore, the total number of flights realized reached 16,280, marking an increase of 1,295 flights compared to 2025 figures. The month of July proved particularly significant for tourism metrics, with both major hubs reporting record passenger volumes. At the Skopje airport, passenger traffic reached 408,925, reflecting a 29.5% rise.
Simultaneously, the Ohrid airport recorded 52,544 passengers, an increase of 41.2%. These sustained increases in passenger numbers and flight activity point toward a robust recovery and growth within the national tourism and service industries. Higher passenger volumes are directly correlated with increased activity for service sector employees and are expected to provide a measurable boost to the national economy.
The consistent rise in both passenger counts and flight operations suggests strengthening connectivity and growing international visitor interest in the country.
