The Ministry of Energy, Mines and Minerals Resources has issued a statement assuring the public that low water levels observed in European rivers and lakes do not present a significant risk to the safety of household electricity production. The Ministry noted that the condition of ground accumulations remains stable, and the overall hydroelectric potential is assessed at approximately 70 percent capacity. This reserve capacity is stated to be sufficient to meet current consumption requirements within planned production schedules.
Furthermore, the Ministry indicated that indicators for household electricity production are showing improvement. Supporting this assessment, data provided by the State Statistics Institute highlighted performance metrics for Macedonia. Specifically, in May, the nation generated 462,653 MWh of electricity.
This volume covered 96.5 percent of the total household electricity requirement, suggesting a stable and improving operational capacity for the sector. The assurances suggest that despite fluctuating natural resources, the infrastructure and existing reserves are managed to mitigate potential supply risks. The focus remains on maintaining reliable electricity supply by leveraging the stable hydroelectric potential and monitoring domestic production trends to ensure continuity for household use.
