ASOM: The law on the games at the start should be followed and a new decision made

ASOM Calls for Reassessment of Games Decision Following Assembly Vote

The Association of Sports Organizers of Macedonia (ASOM) has announced a renewed call for a comprehensive review of the Assembly’s recent “pretext-decision” regarding the Games of the Olympiad and related fun games. The announcement, made on June 23, 2026, at 10:50 a.m., emphasizes the need for ASOM to formally assess the decision’s shortcomings. Following discussions involving representatives from business sectors, experts, civic organizations, and associations of persons with disabilities, ASOM concluded that the current decision presented unresolved issues beyond the scope of supplementary amendments.

ASOM President, Vasko Ilievski, stated that the convened discussions highlighted a significant number of outstanding questions. He indicated that these challenges could not be adequately addressed through collaborative revisions. Consequently, ASOM is advocating for a thorough evaluation of the situation and the potential necessity of enacting a new legal framework to ensure the proper organization and execution of future games.

The focus remains on ensuring accountability and addressing the concerns raised during the recent deliberations surrounding the decision.
