Suspect Charged in Skopje Fire Incident Targeting Bulgarian Embassy

Skopje, North Macedonia – A primary suspect is currently leading the investigation into an incident involving a fire at the Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria on June 15th. The suspect, a 44-year-old resident of Skopje, is facing charges related to endangering public safety under Article 288 of the Criminal Code. According to authorities, the incident began at noon at the Ambassador’s residence.

The suspect is accused of setting fire to the embassy premises. Subsequently, he reportedly boarded a bus and traveled to the city center. There, he used gasoline from a nearby pump to ignite two diplomatic vehicles parked adjacent to the Bulgarian embassy.

Further action involved the suspect approaching the vehicles and setting them ablaze with a lighter. The event caused significant risk to individuals and the reputation of the embassy. Law enforcement is continuing its investigation, and the suspect remains in custody.

The incident is under review by relevant authorities.
