The Association of Macedonian News Reporters (ZNM) has responded to a public Facebook post by Branko Trčkovski, which reportedly subjected news reporter and director Aleksandar Vidinovski to significant criticism, disregard, and demeaning commentary. ZNM noted that the nature of the public critique did not target a specific professional role, news service, or factual event. Instead, the association stated that the post appeared to attack the personal and professional integrity of the media worker through indirect means.
ZNM characterized this mode of communication as unconstructive, unproductive, and detrimental to the public sphere within Macedonia. The association emphasized that such public discourse undermines professional standards. Therefore, ZNM called for all critique directed at media professionals, journalists, and broadcasters to be grounded in verifiable arguments, established facts, and recognized professional standards.
The statement highlighted the need for accountability in public discourse. Rather than engaging in personal attacks, the association urged critics to focus on substantive issues. This call is aimed at maintaining a healthier and more professional environment for the media sector in Macedonia.
The association stressed that while criticism is necessary, it must adhere to professional boundaries, especially when discussing the work of young or established media figures.
