VMRO-DPMNE Criticizes Filipče’s Approach to Constitutional Changes
Skopje – The VMRO-DPMNE party has issued a statement criticizing Interior Minister Gordana Siljanoski Filipče’s recent comments regarding proposed constitutional changes. The party alleges that Filipče is repeating the policy of the SDSM party, specifically concerning the pursuit of constitutional amendments without concrete guarantees. According to VMRO-DPMNE, the statement, made on May 31, 2026, at 9:33 am, accuses Filipče of downplaying the significance of lacking assurances, echoing a previous approach taken by Prime Minister Zoran Zaev.
The VMRO-DPMNE statement claims this represents an insult to citizens who express concern regarding these changes. The party argues that Filipče’s lack of specific details regarding the proposed changes is problematic. Referring back to Zaev’s previous focus on renaming the country as a key element for EU membership, VMRO-DPMNE contends that the nation now faces new obstacles, including blockades and conditions imposed by France and Bulgaria.
“Instead of the previous trump card, the country has been facing new blockades, vetoes and additional conditions from France and Bulgaria,” the statement reads. The VMRO-DPMNE continues to emphasize the need for transparent and guaranteed constitutional changes. The party, formerly aligned with SDSM, remains critical of the government’s strategy.
This criticism comes from VMRO and highlights concerns about the direction of the proposed changes.
