(VIDEO) HURTING THUNDERSTORM WEATHER OF FRANCE – Dozens of damaged and huge material losses

A powerful tornado struck the southwestern region of France on Monday, August 24th, resulting in significant structural damage and widespread disruption, according to local authorities. The severe weather event caused massive power outages and led to the collapse of infrastructure across the affected area. Prior to the storm’s passage, the French meteorological service had issued an orange alert for the entire region, warning residents of potential hazards.

The tornado made landfall in the village of Pomas, situated within the commune of the same name. Reports indicate that the impact was devastating, with an estimated 300 houses destroyed and several residences suffering the complete removal of their roofs. Beyond the structural damage, the incident resulted in at least 41 people sustaining injuries, with over 120 individuals requiring hospitalization.

Among those injured was a pregnant woman. The scale of the emergency necessitated a large-scale response from regional services. The combination of extreme weather conditions and the physical damage reported across the southwest of France has created a major recovery effort.

Authorities are continuing to assess the full extent of the damaged property and the disruption to local services following the intense storm.
