Feyenoord Appoints Joanne van Bronckhorst as Head Coach
Rotterdam – Dutch football club Feyenoord has announced the appointment of Joanne van Bronckhorst as the new head coach of their first team. The 51-year-old specialist has signed a two-year contract with an option to extend for a further year. This move follows the recent dismissal of previous head coach, Robin van Persie.
Under van Persie’s leadership, Feyenoord secured second place in the Eredivisie league during the 2025/26 season, finishing 19 points behind league leaders PSV. Van Bronckhorst brings a significant connection to the club, having played for Feyenoord at the conclusion of his professional career. He previously served as head coach from 2015 to 2019.
Most recently, he held the position of assistant coach at Liverpool, departing alongside fellow coach Arjen Robben. The appointment represents a return for the experienced manager to De Kuip, and the club is hopeful that van Bronckhorst’s leadership will build upon recent successes. Details regarding the club’s immediate plans were not immediately available.
