Three fishes were his life: THE LEGEND AND THE FACTS ABOUT THE CRETZOVO TOPSČE from Ilinden’s uprising

During a visit to the War Museum in Istanbul in 1997, an original example of the Cresovo ball was discovered. The finding occurred on July 2, 1997, during a visit by a delegation from the Army of the Republic of Macedonia to a Turkish delegation. The visiting Macedonian officers included colonels Goche Ilievski and Gjorgji Gjurovski, alongside majors Ilijos Sarapinovski and Vancet Stojčev.

The artifact found in the museum is highly significant because it represents the legendary Cresovo ball, an item utilized by Macedonian insurgents during the Ilinden Uprising in 1903. This piece is historically notable as it is cited as the sole remaining physical sample from that period. The discovery prompted immediate documentation, and the artifact was subsequently transported to the Republic of Macedonia.

It was kept there for a period of three months for promotion and display, coinciding with the centennial commemoration of the Ilinden Uprising. The museum records indicated that the history associated with the ball belonged to a pivotal moment in Macedonian national history.
