The Directorate for Fire Safety and Salvation has reported that there are currently at least 20 active open-air fires across the region. While crews have successfully extinguished a critical fire in the villages of Batnica and Vodoch, the overall situation remains volatile due to prevailing high temperatures. According to officials, firefighting services mobilized from multiple locations, including Gegevzeglija, Valandovo, Ravadish, and Strumica, are actively managing the escalating incidents.
To control the spread, mechanization has been deployed to establish necessary firebreaks around the affected areas. Authorities confirmed that, as of the latest report, there have been no reports of burnt houses or any injuries related to the ongoing fires. Director Stojanche Angelov issued a warning regarding the forecast, stating that the high temperatures are expected to cause an increase in the number of active fires in the coming days.
Multiple locations are currently experiencing fire incidents. Specific areas mentioned include Cvetovo, Studenci, the town of Zeleno, and several villages such as Zejlino, Tearimishte, Vrapchishte, Mavrovo-Rostoush, Pirdop, and Bonche. The continuous monitoring of these sites is crucial as emergency services work to contain the blaze.
The operational focus remains on preventing further spread and ensuring public safety amidst the widespread risk posed by the open-air fires.
