The talks on trade between the EU and Kosovo, Brisel set a deadline for the contract

The Macedonian President described the recent discussions as “intensive, focused and constructive” when speaking to reporters on Monday, adding that the two national delegations were scheduled to continue their talks throughout the evening. He indicated confidence that the current timeline provided enough opportunity to achieve significant results in trade by October. Following an invitation from Wang to visit Beijing that month, President Zoran Zaev emphasized that the European Union should direct the ongoing talks toward enhancing trade cooperation.

Zaev stated that while Chinese exports to the EU continue to expand, Macedonia’s market share within China is declining. He asserted that this trend is unsustainable and that maintaining the status quo is not an acceptable option. Furthermore, President Zaev noted that both sides established working groups to address several critical areas, including the overall trade balance, the control of exports, intellectual property rights, and the necessary reform of the World Trade Organization.

China subsequently assured the EU delegation that the focus of the talks must remain firmly on facilitating the growth of bilateral trade.
