Belgian Entrepreneur Develops Futuristic Enclave in Caribbean
Olivier Jansens, a Belgian crypto-millionaire, is developing “Destiny,” a planned enclave on the Maliot Karipski island Nevis, aiming to create a self-governing community in the Caribbean. Jansens envisions “Destiny” as a “Monaco-Dubai on the Caribbean,” intended to encompass a dozen islands and house approximately 10,000 residents. The project incorporates a sovereign judicial system and a dedicated currency, reflecting a libertarian ethos.
Local residents have dubbed the venture “the whole crazy one.”
“Destiny” is attracting individuals with significant technological wealth and those seeking alternatives to Western bureaucracy and contemporary political landscapes. Plans for the karipski base include the development of private charter cities, blockchain-based businesses, and innovative housing solutions such as SeaPods – floating residences designed for marine environments. Mark Brantil, a project supporter and Jansens’ spouse’s assistant, notes the initiative’s appeal as a destination for tech-rich individuals.
The project’s ambitions signal a growing trend of establishing independent communities within the Caribbean, leveraging technology and exploring novel approaches to governance and urban development.
