We bow before the idea of free Macedonia, said Mitkoski at the commemoration of 105 years since the assassination of Gjorgje Petrov

During the commemoration marking the 105th anniversary of the assassination of Gjorgje Petrov, the former President of the VMRO-DPMNE, Hristo Miskovski addressed the public. Speaking on the occasion, Miskovski emphasized that the tribute paid is directed not only toward the historical figure but also toward an enduring idea. Miskovski noted that the work and ideals championed by Gjorgje Petrov continue to serve as a lasting source of inspiration for Macedonia’s aspiration toward a free and dignified state.

He stated that the celebration serves to recall the historical significance of Petrov’s contributions to the Macedonian movement. According to Miskovski, the demonstration of patriotic spirit in the contemporary era must be visible through tangible national progress. He asserted that true commitment to the national ideal requires focusing on robust development, the strengthening of institutional structures, and the improvement of living conditions for all citizens.

The remarks framed the commemoration as an acknowledgment of an idea—the right of Macedonia to its own destiny—that has persisted across more than a century. The address highlighted that honoring the memory of Gjorgje Petrov means upholding this foundational national principle in the present day.
