A significant historical discovery was made by Stefan Panis, a water carrier and underwater photographer from Belgrade. While exploring the submerged remains of a brewery in southwestern Great Britain, which sank in 1864, Panis successfully recovered several artifacts. Among the items he found was a beer barrel containing multiple bottles that appeared undamaged, alongside a sealed jar.
The find immediately drew international attention due to one specific bottle bearing the “Guinness London” label. The Guinness company has acknowledged the find and indicated plans to retrieve the item for analysis at their laboratory. Panis also located a jar containing beer, which featured a recognizable label associated with the Flemish radio diffuser VRT.
The depth at which the barrel was found was approximately 25 meters. Panis noted that the VRT bottle particularly caught his eye because of its unique appearance and cap structure. He emphasized the historical significance of the “Guinness London” label, which remained intact after lying on the seabed for over 162 years.
