New protective and punitive measures are being implemented to combat sexual violence against students and to enhance victim protection. These initiatives will commence with enhancements in police and correctional facility protocols, incorporating comprehensive preventive and protective safeguards. Furthermore, immediate first aid and support services will be provided to survivors.
A key preventive and protective measure being introduced is a dedicated call-back system for instances of sexual violence, accessible via both a mobile application and SMS text message. In related developments, the Central Authority for Crisis Management (CUK) of the Republic of Macedonia announced the upcoming availability of a new application named “Where Are You.” This tool will significantly improve communication with the emergency services system, 112. Users will be able to utilize the application to transmit their precise location from an incident site.
Beyond location data, the system allows users to send photographs and video footage, ensuring that relevant services receive detailed and accurate information at the time of an emergency. These combined measures aim to strengthen the response framework across law enforcement and support services, providing both preventative tools and immediate assistance to victims of sexual violence.
