The Euro-ambassadors will vote for the amendment according to the bilateral protocols, not the framework of the Presidency, said Miskovski

Euro-Envoys Urged to Support Protocol Amendments

Brussels – Bulgarian Minister of European Affairs, Mariyan Miskovski, has urged Euro-envoys to vote in favor of proposed amendments to the bilateral protocols, emphasizing the importance of upholding the pre-election framework established by the European Union. Speaking on June 17, 2026, at 15:34, Miskovski stated that the European Parliament’s involvement does not constitute a pre-election context for these amendments. Miskovski argued that the Euro-envoys’ support for the amendments within the existing bilateral protocols is crucial.

He specifically referenced the inclusion of “gains” and the “pre-election framework” within the protocols, asserting that this element should be considered a formal component of the EU’s established framework. “If Europe wants to maintain its credibility, it must address the situation regarding Macedonia,” Miskovski declared. He expressed concern that the Euro-envoys were obstructing progress by failing to fully endorse the amendments as part of the agreed-upon bilateral protocols.

The discussion centers around ensuring the amendments remain aligned with the pre-election framework as defined by the relevant protocols.
