The Ministry of Finance has finalized the servicing of a significant debt obligation, totaling €700 million. This figure represents a comprehensive payment of €327.9 million, comprised of €316.3 million for the principal and €11.6 million in accrued interest. The total amount was fully disbursed in January 2026.
The debt, initially issued, was strategically managed through a phased repayment schedule. In February 2026, the Ministry made an advance payment of approximately one-third – €127.9 million – of the total debt. The remaining two-thirds, amounting to €593.1 million, were settled in full during the initial January 2026 payment.
This operation involved the allocation of funds directly from the Ministry of Finance. The meticulous planning and execution of this €700 million transaction demonstrates responsible financial management. All payments were executed in euros, highlighting the scale of the undertaking.
