A quick and easy decision is based on a European perspective

Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski addressed the European Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighbourhood Policy, Marta Kos, emphasizing that the path toward European integration must adhere to established criteria and reforms. He stressed that the trajectory should not become dependent on bilateral negotiations, which he warned could generate uncertainty regarding Macedonian national interests. Mickoski characterized the current discussions and future outlook as requiring an open, honest, and constructive dialogue concerning the country’s European perspective and the reforms currently underway.

A central theme of his address was the necessity of maintaining the enlargement process according to the foundational principles upon which the European Union was established. These principles, he noted, include prudence, equal treatment, and respect for the dignity of every candidate nation. According to the Prime Minister, the past two years have provided tangible evidence that the reforms undertaken are substantive rather than merely declarative.

He maintained that the entire integration framework must remain grounded in these core principles. The expectation is that the continued evolution of the relationship with the European Union will be based on these shared standards, ensuring that the European aspirations of the country are met through a transparent and equitable mechanism. This commitment to principle, rather than ad-hoc agreements, is crucial for the stability and credibility of the entire accession process.
