The municipality of Aerodrom has announced a series of events commemorating the significant national holiday of Ilinden. The central observance will take place in the center of the main Ilinden day commemoration on August 2nd, organized by the Association “Ilinden’s march 1978,” culminating in a solemn march. The preparatory activities begin on Monday, July 27th, at 18:00.
The procession will commence from the Church of St. Petar and Paul in Gorno Lisiche. Approximately 40 horsemen, including five young women, are scheduled to ride to Kruševo.
This event continues a five-decade tradition dedicated to honoring Ilinden and the heroes of Macedonia. Further strengthening the sense of community and heritage, a major gathering is planned for August 31st. On this date, the horsemen originating from Gorno Lisiche will unite with students arriving from St.
Nicholas, Kichevo, and Bitola. This convergence aims to reinforce unity, preserve cultural traditions, and acknowledge the rich Macedonian heritage associated with Ilinden. These scheduled activities underscore the municipality’s commitment to maintaining the historical memory and cultural significance of the Ilinden commemoration.
The planned marches and gatherings serve as key moments for citizens to participate in remembering the national history.
