The advisors of VMRO-DPMNE and Vreme do not have a ticket that is valid for two hours on buses in Skopje.

Advisors from the VMRO-DPMNE and Vreme parties have stated that they do not support the initiative proposed by Levica regarding a single bus ticket valid for 120 minutes from initial validation. The proposal was advanced by Levica’s advisor, Daria Mustafaloğlu. Mustafaloğlu suggested implementing changes to public transport rules to prevent citizens from paying multiple times for the same journey when transferring between different bus routes.

Mustafaloğlu argued that the current system imposes unnecessary costs on citizens, particularly in urban areas characterized by irregular routes, malfunctioning buses, and areas lacking direct connectivity. She stated that the current situation amounts to paying for a “chaos” that the system itself has not generated. She noted that this proposal reflects practices adopted in numerous European cities.

As a specific illustration, Mustafaloğlu highlighted a route from Volkovo to Bit Pazar, which currently requires two bus transfers, necessitating the purchase of two separate tickets. Under the proposed system, the journey would be covered by a single ticket. The core of the debate centers on whether the public transport system should allow for seamless transfers, ensuring that a single ticket covers the necessary travel time across multiple bus connections.
