The Ministry of Local Self-Government, alongside the Agency for Innovation, Scientific and Technological Development and Entrepreneurship (INOVA), is launching a strategic initiative designed to invigorate the development of local self-government structures. A core component of this effort is the active engagement of young people in the functioning of local governance. The program, titled “Months of Internships,” is scheduled to commence in August and September.
This initiative moves beyond mere observation, positioning students as active contributors to the enhancement of local self-government processes. Participants will be directly integrated into the operational work of local government bodies, providing hands-on experience in civic administration. The Agency for Innovation will manage the coordination between the participating students, the Ministry of Local Self-Government, and the Resource Center for Support of Local Self-Government.
Furthermore, the framework for the program is being organized and managed through a memorandum of understanding dedicated to the development of local self-government. This structured involvement aims to cultivate a new generation of informed citizens and future leaders within the sphere of local governance. By embedding academic learning within practical municipal settings, the program seeks to deepen understanding of decentralized administrative functions and strengthen the capacity of local self-government units across the region.
The overall goal is to foster sustainable development by empowering youth to participate meaningfully in the governance of their communities.
