Ten Dairy Factories Face Scrutiny Following Quality Concerns

The Agency for Food and Veterinary Medicine has identified ten dairy factories with irregularities in the quality and marking of milk products currently available for sale. The findings, reported by multiple media outlets, follow previous concerns raised approximately three months prior by Minister of Agriculture and Food, Tsvetan Trimpunovski. Initial reports suggested that consumers were being supplied with products mislabeled as “hemiya,” a term referring to a non-dairy substance.

Subsequent investigations by the Agency have now focused on the dairy sector. Factory owners are expressing frustration with the regulatory response. Borche Bučinski, a dairy producer from Mogila, stated that the factories should be closed and that producers should be permitted to operate under established standards.

He argued that the current investigation involves accusations of minor infractions with minimal financial penalties. The situation highlights ongoing concerns regarding food safety and labeling within the dairy industry. Authorities are currently undertaking a review of the factories’ operations and assessing the extent of the discrepancies.

The investigation centers on ensuring the accurate labeling and quality of dairy products available to consumers. Further details regarding the specific charges and the ongoing investigation are expected to be released by the Agency.
