Heavy rainfall caused significant flooding across Skopje, leading to numerous reports of submerged property and stranded vehicles, according to the Center for Crisis Management (CUK). The increase in calls to the unified emergency number, 112, was noted by CUK, indicating heightened public concern following the adverse weather conditions. The municipalities most severely impacted by the flooding included Kisela Voda, Čair, Butel, and Gazi Baba.
Reports detailed water inundation in residential basements, yards, warehouse complexes, underpasses, and circular waterways. In addition to property damage, multiple instances of vehicles being trapped by floodwaters were reported and confirmed on site. Emergency services responded promptly to all reported incidents.
CUK confirmed that the City Fire Brigade was immediately notified regarding every reported situation. The disruption to waterways also raised concerns about watercraft; conditions made normal sailing difficult, and the status of motorboats in submerged areas was a point of concern for residents. Authorities are coordinating efforts to ensure essential resources remain available to assist affected populations and manage the ongoing clean-up operations.
The focus remains on assessing the full extent of the damage across the affected urban areas.
