Following recent incidents involving attacks on three oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz, escalating tensions have led to increased military activity. According to reports, the Central Command of SAC decided to significantly increase its targeting scope, expanding its focus to include over 80 objectives, which reportedly encompass more than 60 small arms belonging to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). Iranian state media reported that the recent attacks struck the islands of Kishm, Bandar Abbas, and Sirik, noting that some areas sustained damage from shrapnel.
In response to these events, the IRGC decided early Wednesday morning to conduct further retaliatory attacks targeting U.S. military installations located in Bahrain and Kuwait. This heightened military posturing contrasts with recent diplomatic developments.
Just the previous month, Tehran and Washington had reached an agreement on a 14-point memorandum of understanding. This accord was established with the goal of continuing direct negotiations concerning the nuclear issue between the two nations. The series of escalating attacks and the subsequent military decisions underscore the volatile security environment despite the ongoing diplomatic efforts.
