Ristov: Investing in shares, citizens should study in the construction of the CHEC Chebren

Ristov Advocates for Investment in Education Over Construction Projects

Skopje – Regulatory Commission for Energy, Water Services and Management Services for Municipal Waste (RKE) Chairman Aco Ristov has suggested that investments in shares should prioritize education rather than funding large-scale construction projects. Ristov’s comments follow discussions surrounding the proposed HEC Cetren construction and concerns raised about a “tarpaulin mass” issue. Speaking on June 19, 2026, Ristov emphasized the need to explore alternative investment models to achieve strategic objectives.

He stated, “Energy is not a privilege only for the state, too. Besides the classical lending, the possibility of participation in the model should be considered for the realization of strategic objectives.”

The RKE press service highlighted the context of these remarks, noting the ongoing competition driven by the Energy Transition, the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), and a related initiative from the Macedonian industry. Ristov’s position reflects a call for a shift in investment strategy, with the potential for shares to be utilized to support educational opportunities, particularly within the construction sector.

The discussion underscores the importance of diverse approaches to addressing key challenges facing the energy and waste management sectors.
