Grégoire stated that he observed a lack of effectiveness in deploying police resources to prevent young people from pouring into the canal during periods of high temperatures, specifically in mid-May when temperatures are expected to reach 40 degrees Celsius. “We have been working intensively for the last month to change the situation and to remove the possibility of pouring under the supervision, instead of banning it,” Grégoire explained. The mayor emphasized the potential for the canal to become a significant source of forest fires, a concern expected to begin within the next week.
