Health Professionals to Combat Corruption in Public Health System
Over 160 doctors, midwives, nurses, and other health personnel from Macedonia will participate in a training initiative focused on awareness, prevention, and the adoption of anti-corruption measures within the public health sector. The event aims to address long-standing concerns regarding corruption within the health system, identified as a significant challenge for years. The training is a key component of the “Strengthening System for Good Governance: Reducing Corruption in Health” project, spearheaded by the Association for the Emancipation, Solidarity and Equality of Women (ASE).
The association emphasizes that the fight against corruption must originate within health establishments, particularly those involved in services like vaccinations, where patient interactions are most prevalent. Central to the project’s goals is a discussion surrounding the establishment of minimum standards for the quality of health services. Participants will be encouraged to contribute to strategies for tackling corrupt practices and safeguarding the integrity of the health sector.
The initiative underscores the vital role of health workers in addressing systemic issues and ensuring a reliable and trustworthy healthcare environment. The focus remains on improving the quality of health services and the involvement of health workers in combating corruption.
