Over 14,500 Matriculants Scheduled to Take Optional External Exams
More than 14,500 matriculants are set to participate in the first external exam, which remains an optional assessment for candidates. The exam, covering mother tongue and literature, will be administered on June 11th and 12th. Recent amendments to the Secondary Education Act have introduced a tiered system of external exams for matriculants.
This year, students will have the option to take three distinct state exams tailored to their educational pathway. These include the standard state exam, a state exam for instrumental music, and a state exam for aptitude. Students electing to take the state exam will be assessed in either English or mathematics.
The instrumental music exam remains optional, with testing conducted in English or mathematics. Furthermore, candidates for the aptitude exam will choose between English or history as their assessment language. The changes reflect a broadened approach to secondary education, offering students diverse avenues for demonstrating their academic proficiency through these state-administered exams.
The focus remains on providing options for matriculants to showcase their skills and knowledge.
