Panovski Disputes Award Notification, Claims Manipulation
Naum Panovski, author of the novel “Kosta Slep – Smrtopis,” has been named recipient of the “Radciano Prize” for 2026, but the notification process sparked significant controversy. The announcement was delayed by two days, leading to a dispute over Panovski’s acceptance of the award. Panovski expressed concern regarding the lack of formal notification and attempted to formally accept the nagrade through a video submission and written explanation to the organizers.
However, this attempt was unsuccessful. Subsequently, organizers informed Panovski that his application had been denied and that a monetary prize would be donated to a designated humanitarian organization. “I was completely blindsided,” Panovski stated in a full transcript of his reaction to the incident, published on June 17th at 8:54 local time.
“The entire process felt like manipulacija. I was denied the opportunity to properly accept the recognition and the prize was immediately diverted to charity.”
The situation highlights a disagreement over the procedures surrounding the award presentation. Organizers maintain they followed established protocols, while Panovski contends the notification and subsequent denial were handled inappropriately.
The incident raises questions about the transparency of the nagrade selection and communication process. Further details regarding the “Radciano Prize” and its selection criteria are expected to be released.
