North Macedonia Announces Five New Air Routes, Boosting Tourism and Connectivity
Ohrid, North Macedonia – Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Transport Aleksandar Nikoloski announced a significant expansion of air travel within the country on June 2, 2026. The government has successfully opened new routes during a period of significant global aviation challenges, aiming to bolster tourism and improve connectivity. Over the next few weeks, five new air routes will commence operations.
“Austriја ерлајнс” will initiate regular flights between Vienna and Ohrid, designed to enhance summer travel connections from Austria. “Vizer” will operate flights from Wroclaw and Krakow, Poland, to Ohrid, with a focus on stimulating tourism and attracting Polish visitors. Furthermore, routes will be established from Skopje to Palermo, Sicily, and Alghero, Sardinia.
Nikoloski indicated that these routes, continuing beyond the summer season, represent a long-term strategic investment. He stated that these initiatives are part of a broader effort to strengthen North Macedonia’s position as a key travel destination. The Minister emphasized that these new connections were strategically opened to address evolving travel demands.
