A1 Motorway Construction on Track, First Kilometres Set to Open Next Spring
Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Transport Aleksandar Nikoloski reported positive progress on the construction of the A1 motorway between Prilep and Bitola during a visit to the municipality of Mogila. The project is proceeding according to the established schedule, with officials confident of meeting all deadlines. Nikoloski highlighted the efficient pace of the construction work, stating that the dynamic progress is encouraging.
He anticipates the initial kilometres of the new motorway will be operational again next spring. This opening will have significant implications for traffic flow and economic activity in the region. Specifically, the A1 motorway is expected to benefit the municipalities of Prilep, Bitola, Mogila, Nova Varoš, Resen, and Demir Hisar.
“The dynamism of the construction of the A1 motorway between Prilep and Bitola is excellent,” Nikoloski stated. “We are working at a specific pace and the deadlines will be met.”
The project represents a key investment in North Macedonia’s transport infrastructure, aiming to improve connectivity and facilitate trade throughout the affected areas. Further updates on the construction are expected to be released as the project continues to advance.
