NASA Confirms End of Mission for ‘Meavven’ Flying Machine Near Mars
Washington – NASA has officially declared the “Meavven” flying machine, a spacecraft dedicated to studying Mars, to be inactive. The announcement follows six months of silence from the probe, which had been operating in orbit around the planet. The mission, spanning over a decade, focused on building data regarding the Martian atmosphere.
According to NASA officials, the “Meavven” entered a new operational phase shortly before passing behind Mars in December. This phase resulted in a disruption of its orbit and ultimately depleted its battery reserves. A previously convened investigation team determined that the spacecraft experienced a rapid rotational shift, leading to orbital instability and power failure.
The “Meavven,” launched in 2013 to monitor the Martian atmosphere from orbit, ceased transmitting data in December. This marks the completion of its primary mission objectives. The investigation concluded that the spacecraft’s systems were unable to recover from this critical event.
