Representatives from Multiple Nations Participate in JICA-Led Policing Training in Tokyo
A recent study visit and training session, part of the Community Policing project organized by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), took place in Tokyo, Japan, from May 12 to 30, 2026. The event brought together representatives from numerous countries for the exchange of knowledge and skills related to modern policing strategies. The initiative focused on contemporary concepts and practices, allowing for collaboration between japanese law enforcement and citizen engagement.
Participants engaged in training sessions presented by japanese institutions, which included the Community Policing model, theoretical frameworks, and practical exercises. Simulations of real-world policing scenarios were also utilized. The study visit encompassed a range of key locations, including police stations, the Tokyo Police Academy, Koban police stations – the traditional Japanese police boxes – and the Central Anti-Child Abuse Center.
This provided participants with firsthand experience of operational procedures and techniques. The project underscores the importance of international cooperation in advancing effective and community-oriented policing approaches. The exchange facilitated by JICA aims to bolster policing capabilities globally.
