Macedonian e-Trade Sector Expands with New Registry Launch

The Association for e-Trade of Macedonia (AETM) has announced the release of a new edition of the Registry of e-Traders, designed to enhance transparency and consumer confidence within the country’s online marketplace. The registry provides citizens with the ability to verify the businesses from which they are making purchases and facilitates secure online payment processing. According to data from the National Bank, the number of registered e-Trade sales locations is projected to reach 1,829 by the end of 2025.

Currently, 1,396 of these locations are active, as determined by the National Bank’s established methodology. The Registry of e-Traders serves as the sole and exclusive platform for domestic online sellers to accept payments via credit cards. AETM is actively pursuing collaboration with five banks – including Commercial Bank – to ensure consistent processing of electronic transactions.

This expansion aims to streamline the payment process for both businesses and consumers. The registry’s development underscores the growing importance of secure and reliable e-trade within Macedonia. —
