At least 30 people were killed during an armed attack in the village of Nariodon, located in Kaduna state, Nigeria. According to local youth leader Ishaya Dawa, the attackers entered the settlement before the full moon and opened fire indiscriminately on the residents. Dawa reported that the attackers subsequently set numerous houses on fire.
The incident occurred amidst heightened instability in northern Nigeria, which has recently experienced unrest stemming from militant groups, including Boko Haram and a disaffected faction of ISVAP. As of this report, no group has claimed responsibility for the attack in Kaduna state. Dawa stated that the attack resulted in the brutal killing of residents, noting that the victims included women, children, and the elderly.
He further reported that the bodies of the deceased were transported to a local morgue. The armed attackers reportedly set fire to the houses situated in front of the village. The violence has caused significant distress in the region, adding to the existing security challenges in northern Nigeria.
