The government has announced the initiation of a significant cultural undertaking to commemorate the 35th anniversary of Macedonia’s independence. According to a statement delivered by Maria Miteva, this project is positioned as one of the most important cultural initiatives undertaken during the last three and a half decades. During a press conference, Miteva emphasized the vital role of national heritage in defining a nation’s identity.
She asserted that while international recognition is valuable, the spirit and core identity of the country are best carried by its own cultural contributions and knowledgeable individuals. “Macedonian experts and Macedonian culture are what carry the spirit of a nation,” Miteva stated, noting the government’s particular pride in coordinating a project that will engage more than 120 domestic experts. The scope of the project involves a large collaboration of academic and cultural talent.
Miteva also extended her gratitude to all students participating in the initiative, as well as to the experts who contributed to the effort despite not being able to take part in the final stages. The announcement underscores a concerted national effort to utilize domestic expertise to mark this significant anniversary, solidifying the role of Macedonian professionals in preserving and promoting national culture.
