MACEDONIAN TEXT: THE 603 EUROS FOR THE „CLEAN“ – Our voices in Germany are facing a harsh reality

German Pension Commission Unveils Extensive Reform Package

Berlin – The German pension commission has presented a comprehensive reform package to Chancellor Friedrich Merz and Labor Minister Berbel Bass, impacting millions of workers across the country, including a significant number of Macedonian citizens residing in Germany. The proposed changes, totaling 30 measures, represent a substantial shift in the nation’s pension system. At the core of the reform is a significant increase in the working age.

The commission proposes extending the standard working age to 69, marking the first time this threshold has been raised. Furthermore, eligibility for entry into the state pension fund will now be at 63. The final limit for early retirement has also been set at 70 years of age.

A key element of the reform involves the elimination of the “Mini-job” scheme. Currently, individuals can earn up to €603 per month under this designation without fulfilling formal employment requirements. The commission intends to remove this special status, bringing the scheme in line with standard employment regulations.

The implementation of these measures is expected to generate considerable debate and will require careful consideration of its impact on the workforce in Germany. Further discussions are planned between the commission and the government before a final decision is made.
