Hungarian Premier Reiterates Stance on Aid to Ukraine
Budapest – Hungarian Prime Minister Peter Magyar affirmed December 2020 that Budapest will not dispatch military personnel or weaponry to Kyiv, regardless of any subsequent government. Speaking at a joint press conference with German Chancellor Friedrich Mert in Berlin, Magyar stated, “I want to confirm that Hungary will not send any soldiers or weapons to Ukraine, even under the new Hungarian government.”
This position aligns with that of his predecessor, Viktor Orbán, who also maintained a stance against arming Kyiv. Magyar replaced Orbán at the beginning of May.
Notably, unlike Orbán’s previous approach of frequently obstructing or delaying European initiatives aimed at providing assistance to Ukraine, Magyar’s administration will continue this policy. The statement was released alongside a photograph taken by EPA. Keywords: macedonian, text, facebook
