MACEDONIA “URBAN DIV WEST”: 911 wildfires in one year

According to data released by the State Statistical Office, a total of 911 structures were registered as having been built without proper permits in Macedonia for the year 2025. The statistics indicate that the most significant category of unauthorized construction accounted for 169 cases, representing 18.6 percent of the overall total. Within this primary group, the unauthorized construction included 128 general buildings, 24 main buildings, and 17 objects designated for free time and recreation.

The comprehensive breakdown of the 911 unauthorized buildings reveals several key areas of non-compliance. Fences constituted the largest single category at 164 instances, accounting for 18% of the total. Following this, industrial buildings were cited in 116 cases (12.7%), and industrial plants in 113 cases (12.4%).

Further notable categories included 110 instances related to excavations, extensions, and adaptations (12.1%), and 106 service buildings (11.6%). Other types of unauthorized structures built without authorization include 79 garages (8.7%), 22 summer terraces (2.4%), 17 temporary buildings (1.9%), 9 rockeries (1%), and 6 terraces (0.7%). Overall, the data highlights the extent to which various types of buildings have been constructed without adhering to established regulations.
