Ljutkov: For the last months of the sector’s existence, the tourism sector has been in a state of collapse

Culture and Tourism Minister Zoran Lyutkov reported on the performance of the tourism sector during a daily press conference. He noted a significant recovery trend, stating that revenue generated in the months since the sector’s takeover showed marked improvement. Specifically, he indicated a decline in losses from 200 million dinars in 2023 to 186 million dinars in the current year, representing a growth exceeding 200 percent.

Lyutkov attributed this positive trajectory to strategic efforts, including the development of new markets through close collaboration with the private sector. Furthermore, preparations are underway for international engagements. He mentioned organizing roadshows and B2B meetings in several European destinations, including Germany, Spain, and Finland.

He also highlighted the preparation for preparatory activities and intensive communication with tour operators from the Netherlands and Poland. The Minister’s remarks provided an update on the industry’s stabilization following the sector’s assumption of management on June 26, 2026, at 12:56 pm. The reported focus on international outreach and private partnerships suggests a concerted effort to bolster the tourism industry’s economic standing in the coming months.
